Joaquín Alberto Islas Lira

Joaquín Islas is an international trade expert with over 13 years of experience in logistics, business development, and cross-border operations. From 2014 to 2024, he was based in Shanghai, serving as the Asia Representative for an important freight forwarder in Mexico, where he led key logistics projects and fostered commercial alliances between Asia and Latin America.

He is the founder of Axolotl Trade, a Mexico-based firm offering comprehensive trade solutions, including DDP importation, project management, foreign business representation, cross-border eCommerce, sourcing, and trade expeditions.

Joaquín also created the Latin America Trade Observatory (LATO), a research and media initiative focused on tracking bilateral trade risks and strategic opportunities across east-west routes, with a focus on Mexico, the Andean region, and the Southern Cone.

As part of his mission to merge trade with exploration and personal growth, Joaquín is documenting major trade fairs, regional insights, and cultural narratives.
